Internet - Council welcomed Alex Allison, Bryn Nicholas and Natalia Miles from Pembrokeshire County Council to a recent meeting to discuss the improvement of broadband reception in some problematic spots in the area - in particular Pleasant Valley, Amroth and Llanteg.
They discussed a project, funded through the Rural Development Plan, called Connecting Communities. It is aimed to get communities faster connection where fixed band broadband is problematic. The project will look at alternate broadband solutions derived from a central source, eg fixed wireless satellite etc.
Bryn Nicholas explained that fibre quality broadband is a possibility via fixed wireless routed through a mast which may or may not currently exist. This mast must be high enough to provide a clear line of sight to the problem spots in the area. It would be up to the community to decide what facility they would wish to opt for.

If there is sufficient interest in pursuing this then a meeting will be held at the Pairsh Hall, Summerhill, where the County Council Project Team will explain how this might work in the area an d illustrate the different possibilities.

Llanteg Park - Clr Brinsden reported that a grit bin had been requested for Llanteg Park. This was agreed and the cost was £120.

Crosslands - on February 22nd the Crossland's Road would be closed for a short while to enable road works to take place.

Speeding - there were complaints of speeding vehicles on the A477 and a request had been made that the whole length of this road be made 40 mph. The police were currently monitoring the situation.

Llanteg Community Association - Pembroke Male Voice Choir at Llanteg Hall on March 11th, tickets £5. It was reported that the Llanteg noticeboard would be erected shortly.

Planning:
Land west of Surfhaven, Llanteg - erection of dwelling (permission granted)
Rose Park Farm, Llanteg - erection of a rural enterprise dwelling (permission refused)
Land south of Crosslands Road, Llanteg - erection of a temporary 40.5m anemometer mast (concerns have been raised on this matter).

Opening of All Wales Coast Path - May 5/6 -- funding available for events. Llanteg and Amroth Community Associations may organise an event to mark this historic weekend.

Good Neighbour Scheme - was asking for volunteers to join the scheme and also that local residents in Llanteg would appreciate a bus service through the village to the main centres.

Llanteg Community Association – a walk around Bosherston was planned for February 2012. A Walking Course was planned for February 4th and 11th – in the afternoons. Participants who enjoyed walking were sought, in order to make the course viable. There would be a photo shoot to thank PLANED for the new interpretation board in the village. It was agreed that the Community Council would donate £100 towards the purchase of gates for The Claypits. This was gratefully received.

Mr Bob Cole – Council were advised of the dead of Bob Cole, Llanteg, the husband of Madeline. Condolences were were given to his family. He would be sdaly missed in the community.

Planning

Land west of Surfhaven, Llanteg - erection of two storey dwelling – no objection

Rose Park, Lanteg - outline planning consent for erection of rural enterprise dwelling – no objection

Trelessy Farm, Amroth - single wind turbine with hub height of 37 metres – an Environmental Impact Assessment (E.I.A.) should be essential.

No Fouling Sign on footpath 10/11 at Llanteg (Laurel's Mountain) – this has now been done and the item could come off the agenda.

Mountain Chapel – Clr. Brinsden not in attendance but wanted the following information given to council:

The rendering on the inside walls (or what was left of them) at the Mountain Chapel is falling off, probably due to ingress of water through the top of the walls as they were not sealed or capped. A local councillor will investigate this, have a word with Clr. Brinsden and make a decision as to the best way forward.

Llanteg Community Association

October 29th (actually Sunday 30th) a walk from Blackpool Mill led by the ranger -2-4pm.
A walk around Bosheston was planned for February 2012.
The Carol Service, together with the Village Hall, would be held either the 1st or 2nd Sunday in December.

An information board had been placed in The School Garden which was an excellent addition to the garden and some gates would be put at the entrance to The Claypits.

No Fouling Sign – this was for Footpath 10/11 at Llanteg (Laurel’s Mountain), this request had been passed to P.C.C.

Broadband - Clr Brinsden reported that he had a chat with BT at Swansea and that money was supposed to be available in September to improve the broadband situation in the area.

Trelessy Road, Llanteg – this is due for a complete reconstruction and resurfacing in September.

Llanteg Community Association – September 17th there will be a Quiz and Bingo night in the Hall – £5 per person to include a light supper.

Octber 29th there will be a walk at Blackpool Mill let by the ranger – 2-4pm.

A walk around Bosherston was planned for February 2012.

Correspondence – Llanteg Village Hall and Llanteg Community Association had written letters of thanks for donations.

Good Neighbour Scheme – A committee had been established and it was hoped the scheme could begin on 13th July. Anyone interested in beign a volunteer should contact Rachael Gibby at P.C.C.

Notice Board – the Notice Board had become very worn and writing was difficult to read through it. One of the councillors suggested replacing the plastic. He would organise this. Thanks were extended to him for his help.

Clr Brinsden reported that council were asking for people to be vigilent for possible raves and fly tipping and if they see anything suspicious they should talk to the police.

Llanteg Community Association - a new interpretation board would be set up soon in the carpark of the Village Hall and the picnic benches were now in place in the garden, all courtesy of PLANED. The paper bank had been removed from the Village Hall carpark. This had made much more room in the carpark.

A walk to Marros was planned for June 4th, meeting at The Old School Garden at 11am - bring a packed lunch.

A walk leadership course might be happening in the near future, organised by Keep Wales Tidy.

September 17th is a Quiz and Bingo night in the Village Hall.

Laurel's Mountain Footpath - There was concern raised about the footpath opposite the School Garden which cut across the Laurel's Mountain. The pathway numbered 10/1.1 was covered with dog faeces. It would be helpful to have a sign up to deter dog walkers from leaving the paths fouled, and spoiling it for other users. A sign would be requested for this spot.

Internet - Clr Brinsden said that if villages got together they may be able to get funding to improve the broadband connection. He suggested that anyone who had difficulty in accessing broadband, or if it was particularly slow, they should contact the clerk on 810360 or email paulinetdavies@googlemail.com. If they have enough people across the six villages there may be a way to secure funding to facilitate improvemnets.

Crunwere House Wind Turbine - Chair welcomed Mr Stephen Phillips. Mr Phillips was very concerned about the recent planning application which had caused him to attend the previous month's meeting regarding the wind turbine to be erected at Crunwere which had been given approval by PCC despite objections from Natinal Parks, the Community Council, as well as individual objections from local residents.

Mr Phillips asked did this mean that any turbine application in the area would be approved, as all public consultation and views on that one appear to have been ignored.

The Community Council were concerned that, yet again, the views f the Community Council seemed to have no bearing on decisions that were made by the planning department.

It was suggested Mr Phillips contacted Simon Hart MP to seek advice/views.

Mr Phillips said he would do this and he also said that he felt that there should be two types of planning application - one for simply domestic use for a home supply and any other which should be viewed as commercial and hence merit a different planning application.

Trelessy Road - this was still not done, but was on the work schedule. referred to area maintenance as localised carriageway damage, Clr Brinsden said that long-term, the worn surface was due to be cut out completely and resurfaced. This had been promised as soon as possible.

Road opposite Captain's Pond, Llanteg - a ticket was being raised for the work to be done. Maintenance would inspect. This had been tackled but has not been done satisfactorily.

Lane from Llanteg to Tavernspite - full of potholes and wearing away. This was to be addressed at on-site meeting with officer.

Broadband - Clr Brinsden was trying to get some money for improving broadband in the not spot areas. More money was available from Westminster and it was hoped that some would come to this area.

Footpaths - the path from Crunwere House to St Elidyr's Church would be surveyed and the footpath from Blaenhafod to Broomylake would also be improved.

Llanteg Community Association - there would be a barbeque on Easter Sunday and some walks were planned for the summer. Hopefully they would be putting an information board in the garden, together with some benches and a sculpture. It was also hoped that gates could be fitted.

Planning

Land west of Crunwere House, Llanteg - erection of 50 kw wind turbine (Amended Description and Amended Plans) - permission granted

Land adjacent to The Meadow, Llanteg - renewal for dwelling - permission granted.

Trelessy Road - it was reported that scrambling bikes and jalopy cars were racing in the field on Trelessy Road and were causing a lot of noise which was dsturbing residents. If it persisted the noise abatement office would be contacted. It was suggested that PCSO be contacted to to see if he could intervene. This would be done.

Dangerous Tree - it was also reported that there was a large tree on York Lodge hedge which appeared to be dangerously leaning over into the road. PCC had said that because it was in someone's garden they were not responsible. The owner was elderly. Clr Brinsden said he would have a word with the council and see if anything could be done.

Grit Bin - a request was made that a grit bin be located at Llanteg Park .

• Fly tipping by Pen-y Bont on the old A477, 100 yds from the new A477 road junction. Enquiries are being made and this will be reported to PCC and National Trust.

The lane from Llanteg to Tavernsite was full of pot holes and wearing away. PCC had been notified.

Llanteg Community Association

A lovely carol service was held which was hugely successful. The children performed superbly as did the organist.

Planning

Nothing relating to Crunwere but an application to convert the redundant Ebenezer Chapel at Amroth into a dwelling with the creation of new car parking space - objections raised.

Good Neighbour Scheme

Responses were now in. There had been some negative comments, but most of them were positive, especially from older people. 37 people had offered their support and 31 would definitely use it. Visitors on holiday said they would love to be part of the community and be involved when they were in the area. Rachel Gibby said 16 councils had agreed to take this scheme forward, mainly in the south. Clr Brinsden asked what percentage of returns had been received. A total of 600 households were written to and forty questionnaires had been returned. Clr Brinsden felt it was a good thing. Rachel said a grant would be put towards it in the first instance. It was agreed Amorth Community Council would go ahead with this and Rachel would set up an initial meeting to take this forward. The process of setting this up would take about 6 months.

Fibre optic lines for faster internet connections

A letter had been sent to BT and council was awaiting a response to see if the area could be targeted.

Trelessy Road, sinking

This was now on the work schedule and would be done shortly.

A Llanteg councillor asked if the gulley sucker vehicle could be acquired for Llanteg. Clr Brinsden said that it was being applied for.

Housing Needs Survey – Matthew Owens attended – he stated that an area had been identified as an ‘exception’ site, but felt it was too far away from Llanteg village to be a viable option.

Internet – Clr Brinsden (in his absence) had reported that BT had apparently been given funding to put in fibre optic lines to speed up internet access in areas where access was poor. It would not be automatic and councils would need to contact BT and express interest in the scheme if they would like BT to look at local issues. It was agreed that they should follow this up and a letter would be written to BT from the council.

Trelessy Lane - the nearside lane when travelling south on Trelessy Road, Llanteg was sinking, from Finlandia to the corner, due to increased heavy traffic using the road. This had been reported to the county council, but no response had yet been forthcoming.
Clr Brinsden would like this to be added to the list of outstanding items. A note would be sent to the county council regarding this matter.

Llanteg Community Association – A Bingo and Quiz Evening was to be held on October 30th and the Carol Service on December 12th at 3pm, with refreshments to follow.
Plans had been drawn up for The Claypit to pass around the community, illustrating potential developments. Village Hall improvements were also discussed. The Association as also looking to get the bridle path by the side of the hall cleared., and building a wall to replace the fence in the Village Hall car park.

Llanteg Community Associatiom - the B.B.Q was very successful. The walk was well attended and the weather very good. A grant had been agreed by PLANED to improve the Old School Garden. There will be a Quiz and Bingo Evening on October 30th at 7pm, £5 per person, maximum teams of four, bring your own drinks. The Carol Service is planned for December 12th, 3pm.

Rose Park Farm - agricultural worker's dwelling (no objection).

Captain's Pond Llanteg - was crumbling on the edges very badly on the same side as the bus shelter - a letter would be sent.

Stanwell Corner - the road on Stanwell Corner in Llanteg was getting worse. Urgent action was needed before the winter when heavy frost was likely. A letter would be sent.

Good Neighbour Community Scheme - questionnaires would be sent out to everyone in the area to assess the popularity of a potential scheme. Rachel Gibby of P.C.C. will collate the replies.

Finance - PLANED informed Clr Brinsden that money was available for community projects.

Llanteg Community Association – will be a B.B.Q on August 7th at 6pm. It will be a DIY B.B.Q. – bring your won food and barbecue. It willl be in the old school garden.
There will also be a walk with Kirir Howells on September 12th, meeting at the flogpole in Amroth.
At the AGM all officials were re-elected.
In 2011 it was hoped that two workshops would run in April.

New Member – The chair, Martyn James, welcomed new councillor Jill Chatwin to the recent meeting.

County Councillor’s Report – Clr Brinsden reported that the road dressing season was now upon us and hence there would be work in progress.

Llanteg Community Association – there were barbecues planned for 3rd July and 7th August in the Old School Garden. The walk with National Park from the beach in Amroth to Saundersfoot would take place on September 12th at 2pm.

Dedication Service for Clr M.Cole – Once the seats were in place the dedications service would be arranged. One of the Councillors knew someone who would do the plaque when the time came. Mr Bob Cole would be contacted regarding the wording.

Llanteg Community Association – It was reported that there was a very successful walk from the old Grove Colliery. It was superb and over 40 people attended. A further walk was planned for September 12th.
The Llanteg Community Association AGM would be held on Monday 21st June.
Children’s workshops were provisionally booked for April next year.
The Claypits were developing well. A JCB had been employed ad lovely plants were now emerging.
The seat at Stanwell Corner would be refurbished by Wayne from CARNA Joinery.

Other Matters –
New Premier Stores at Llanteg Garage – two of the Llanteg Councillors both reported the benefits of the new Premier Store at the garage in Llanteg. This was an excellent facility for the village and was much welcomed. Councillors encouraged everyone to use the new facility, both for petrol and general foodstuffs, when appropriate.

Llanteg Community Association – the association’s Walk and Talk is planned for Monday May 3rd. Departing from the Ironworks at Stepaside at 2pm. All welcome.

Appointment of new Community Councillor for the Crunwere Ward – in accordance with the electoral process it was reported that Ms Jill Chatwin has agreed to be co-opted as a member for the Crunwere Ward. A letter and relevant forms would be sent to invite her to attend the next meeting in May.

Tribute Evening – it was reported that the Tribute Evening for the late Clr M.Cole was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances It was suggested that a dmall dedication service be held in a tribute to the late Clr M.Cole once the seat and plaque were in place – this was agreed.

Horsemanstone Llanteg – erection of building for agricultural, garage, storage and workshop use (this application has gone to appeal)
Milton Lodge Llanteg – certificate of lawful use or developement.
Ffynon Hafod Tavernspite – single storey extension (permission granted)
Llanteg Service Station – two internally illuminated free standing display units (no objection).

Litter – Clr Brinsden reported that there had been several complaints about the amount of litter on the A477, he had reported it, but nothing had been done as yet.

Llanteg Community Association – the chair of Llanteg Community Association reported that a new secretary had been appointed. He also told council that much work had been done on the claypits. Mulching has been done, but that grass seed was required, together with a rotivator, to complete the work. This was proving to be a costly business and he asked if the Community Council was prepared to allocate £150 to the Llanteg Community Association for these works to be carried out. This was unanimously agreed.
There will be a ‘walk and talk’ event on Monday May 3rd, leaving Stepaside Iron Works at 2pm with a 3.5mile circular walk from the Iron Works to Wisemansbridge and back via Sardis, returning at approx 4pm – all very welcome.

Planning – Clr Brinsden declared an interest and took no part in the discussion:
Milton Lodge – certificate of lawefullness (no objection).

Road Signs at Llanteg – Llanteg History Society had written regarding the possible erection of small ‘LLANTEG’ signs on the Tavernspite and Amroth side roads – Council had no objection. A letter would be sent.

Clr Madelaine Cole – a councillor said that the Amroth and District Community Association had raised the idea of a tribute evening for the late Clr M.Cole. Views had been sought and it would appear that such an evening would be welcomed. The evening of Saturday 17th April had been earmarked and it was hoped that there would be several friends and colleagues who would make contributions. It was also stated that the Llanteg Community Association, together with Llanteg Village Hall, were intending to have a memorial to the late Clr Cole, but it had not yet been decided what it would be. It was suggested that a plaque, in memory of Clr Cole, be put on one of the new benches soon to be erected on the promenade in Amroth.

Sewerage - Clr Brinsden reported that pressure would be put on Welsh Water by PCC to state where future new systems were to be installed.

Seat in Llanteg – one of the councillors had kindly offered to move an existing seat, which was not currently used, to the cross-roads site.

Llanteg Community Association – it was reported that Council had sadly lost Madeleine Cole from the Community Council and Llanteg Community Association, and that she was a much-valued colleague and friend. a new secretary had been appointed, and, in due course, council would need to co-opt a new councillor for the Crunwere ward. This would need to be advertised. The appointment of a vice-chair would be decided in May at the AGM.
The community garden (in Llanteg) now had a newly equipped garden shed. Volunteers had tidied the garden up and and set bulbs. Much work was currently being done on the Clay Pirts prior to March 1st when the nesting season would start. A lovely park area was developing.
A village walk was planned for some time in April.
